Description: West End Watch Co. Sowar Prima automatic, powered by a Swiss ETA 2878 17-jewel movement. Black dial with bold white Arabic numerals, gold-tone diamond-shaped hands & a distinctive red seconds hand. Large arched day display window at 6 o'clock showing a full "SUN" in red - an unusually prominent day complication for the era. Date window integrated below the day display. Fine outer minute track. Gold-tone bezel on a two-tone stainless steel & gold-tone case. Crown at 3 o'clock. Original two-tone stainless & gold-tone bracelet.
Story of This Watch: West End Watch Co. is one of the oldest watch brands still in existence, founded in London in 1887 & built on supplying quality Swiss movements to South Asian & Middle Eastern markets. The Sowar Prima was their flagship automatic line - "Sowar" meaning horseman in Urdu & Hindi, a name chosen deliberately for the South Asian market that West End served so extensively. The ETA 2878 movement inside is a Swiss-made calibre, not a cheap Asian import - West End was always serious about what went inside the case. This is pre-quartz-crisis Swiss watchmaking distributed through one of the most historically significant watch brands in the South Asian market, & that provenance is genuine.
Condition: Fair to good condition, rated 3/5. Black dial shows discolouration & age-appropriate wear across the surface. Arabic numerals & hands remain legible. Red seconds hand & day display intact with SUN visible in red. Case shows visible scratching on both the gold-tone bezel & steel surfaces consistent with decades of use. Gold-tone elements show wear through on edges. Original two-tone bracelet present with matching age-appropriate patina. Movement running. No box or papers.
