Description: Seiko Turtle reference 6309-7040 from 1984, the iconic cushion-shaped dive watch that earned its nickname for obvious reasons. The Turtle succeeded the legendary 6105, becoming the choice for military divers & Navy SEALs who needed reliability over prestige. Blue dial with applied baton indices, date window at 3 o'clock, luminous sword hands. Stainless steel cushion case with distinctive anti-snag crown at 4 o'clock, approximately 42mm. Original stainless steel bracelet. Hardlex crystal. 150m water resistance. Powered by Seiko's 6309 automatic movement, visible through the exhibition caseback.
Story of This Watch: The Turtle is the watch that proved you don't need Swiss credentials to build a legitimate dive tool. From 1976 to 1988, Seiko made these for people who actually dove, not collectors who looked at them. This example keeps accurate time, runs strong, & has earned its place in dive watch history. The replaced bezel is honest disclosure, not a flaw.
Condition: Excellent condition, rated 4/5. Dial is clean & sharp with excellent legibility. Case shows appropriate patina from 40 years of use but remains solid. Bracelet functional with good articulation. Hands original & in good order. Movement running accurately & keeping excellent time. Bezel replaced with new, all other components original. No polishing. No box or papers.
