Description: Seiko ladies quartz on the Caliber 43A, one of Daini Seiko's earliest quartz movements dating to approximately 1975. Cream textured dial with black Roman numeral hour markers & the vintage Seiko double-capsule quartz logo sitting just above 6 o'clock - a period detail that dates this piece precisely. Slim gold-tone hands. Cushion-tonneau shaped gold-plated case flowing seamlessly into a textured diamond-pattern mesh bracelet - no visible lug join, the case & bracelet read as a single integrated piece. The mesh bracelet carries a fine crosshatch texture that catches light evenly across the full width.
Story of This Watch: The Caliber 43A is a piece of quartz history. Daini Seiko - the Seiko manufacturing division that would later become Epson - developed this movement as part of Japan's early push to miniaturise quartz technology for ladies' watches in the mid-1970s. At the time, fitting a quartz movement into a case this slim & this small was a genuine engineering achievement. The integrated mesh bracelet design was also a deliberate statement: this was Seiko competing directly with Swiss dress watches on aesthetic terms, not just on accuracy. The double-capsule logo on the dial is the period signature - Seiko stopped using it as quartz became mainstream & no longer needed announcing.
