Description: Citizen Digi-Ana Alarm, a late 1970s Japanese ana-digi combining a digital LCD display with a subsidiary analog clock face in a single rectangular case. Large segmented LCD at the top displaying time in bold digits. Analog subdial at lower left with a black dial & white hands running independently. Function panel at lower right with mode indicators. "Chrono Alarm Chime" & "Digi-Ana Alarm" labelled on the case top & bottom bars in period typography. Chronograph, alarm, chime & stopwatch functions all present & operational. Original ribbed stainless steel expanding bracelet. Multiple pushers on the right side for function control. Made in Japan.
Story of This Watch: This is what the future looked like in 1978. Japanese watchmakers were in a full sprint to push digital & hybrid technology onto the wrist, & Citizen's Digi-Ana format was one of the most ambitious results - analog & digital displays running simultaneously in one case, before that combination was common or expected. The chunky rectangular case, the segmented LCD, the expanding ribbed bracelet - every detail is a direct time capsule of late 1970s Japanese watch design at its most forward-thinking. Finding one with every function still operational is genuinely uncommon. These were daily wear pieces, not collector's items, which means most of them are long gone or non-functional. This one works completely.
Condition: Mint condition, rated 5/5. LCD display clear & fully legible with no fading or dead segments. Analog subdial hands tracking correctly. All functions confirmed operational - chronograph, alarm, chime & stopwatch all working. Case & bracelet show age-appropriate patina consistent with a late 1970s piece but present beautifully. Expanding bracelet intact & functional. No box or papers.
